About a month ago I heard a radio announcement for an Avon sponsored 3Day Breast Cancer Walk from Boca Raton to Miami - April 19, 2002 to April 21, 2002. For personal reasons, I knew that I had to do this 60 mile walk.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago and a radical masectomy was necessary. The doctors attempted reconstructive surgery but a severe infection set in and the breast had to be removed. She decided then not attempt another reconstructive surgery. I don't want anybody to go through the mental anguish, pain and suffering that my mother went through.

I do this walk for not only my mother, but for the mother of my heart, my step-mother Debbie.

I also do this for my two teen-age daughters, Tarah and Ashley. I never want my daughters to experience the heartache of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Selfishly, as a mother, I don't want to lose my daughters to breast cancer.

I do this walk for my sister Kim, my nieces Brooke, Lindsay & Sophia, my sister-in-law Tina, my mother-in-law(s) Georgia and Melanie and the rest of my friends and family.

I want to help find a cure. I know that you do too; that is why I am asking you to help. This year alone 182,800 women in the U.S will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That is staggering 500 women per day. More than 40,800 of these women will die. Another fact. A woman's chance of having breast cancer in her lifetime is one in eight. Your chance of knowing one of these women is 100%.

Please help.

I need to raise a minimum of $ 1,900 by March 22, 2002 in order to participate and I am far from my goal. Since I registered so late, I only have a little over one month to meet my minimum.
